Colin Loveday is a mobile telecoms entrepreneur with a blue chip corporate background at Nestle, Sanyo and Nokia Mobile Phones in a host of roles including international general management, marketing, sales and retail. His entrepreneurial career has covered a range of projects that have created new and original solutions for the mobile telecoms market including “Putting the Fringe in your pocket” app the world’s first publically demonstrable and commercially available mobile web app launched in 1999, followed by the first mobile e-ticket solution for the “Best of the Fest” show in association with “Assembly” a Fringe venue in 2001.
Winner of two Arts and Business Scotland awards for the four-year collaboration and sponsorship with Edinburgh’s main summer festivals. Adopting an original approach to use the latest mobile technologies from Nokia & Orange to help bring the main Edinburgh summer festivals together for the benefit of their audiences.
Building on this legacy, Colin started 4G Scotland, to provide mobile technology solutions that improve business performance. 4G Scotland is leading the way in developing how businesses use 4G mobile specifically working in partnership with EE, the UK’s most advanced mobile network and the first to bring 4G to Scotland. With over 15 years in mobile telecommunications at the centre of the storm he is constantly being rejuvenated by the changes in technology and importantly, how business users and consumers interact with it. Colin chairs the Inspiring Digital Policy Group at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Edinburgh Chamber’s Council and President of the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce. He is also on the board of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce Business Digital Commission, which works to fill the skill gaps of digital technology across small and medium-sized businesses.
